Anthropology of Andalas University and Cultural Anthropology of Udayana University Organize Benchmarking on Curriculum and Tourism Development from an Anthropological Perspective

In order to add treasures related to the contribution of anthropological science to the development of the world of tourism, the Department of Anthropology of Andalas University and the Cultural Anthropology Study Program of Udayana University conducted a benchmarking activity on Wednesday November 29, 2023. The activity aims to be a useful benchmark for comparison between different thoughts to get a standardized standard in a measurable way.


Benchmarking was attended by all the faculty of each department or program. The activity started with an opening ceremony and hospitality by the representatives of each institution, the leader of department/study programs. At the event, two famous lecturers of Anthropology at Udayana University presented their material as speakers. First by Prof. Dr. A.A. Ngurah Anom Kumbara, M.S. who presented the material entitled "The Existence of Anthropology in the Development of Tourism Industry in Bali", then followed by the second speaker was Dr. Ida Bagus Gde Pujaastawa, M.A. with the title of his material entitled "Environmental Issues in the midst of Bali Tourism Glitter".


From the Anthropology Department of Andalas University, Dr. Sri Setiawati, M.A. and Dr. Yevita Nurti, S.Sos., M.Si. who both took turns presenting material related to the development of tourism in North Sumatra, especially in the Padang area which is now increasing. Nevertheless, from Andalas it is necessary to do benchmarking as an effort to anticipate the negative impact that can be brought by the influence of tourism.


In addition, the two anthropology institutions also exchanged ideas on curriculum implementation to improve quality assurance. With regard to the Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM) program, both institutions hope that through this meeting they can increase student participation in exchange programs. This event will also strengthen the relationship between the institutions to enhance cooperation through various collaborative activities of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. (ows)
