SOCIAL ANTHROPOLOGY UNUD GRADUATES 11 NORWAY STUDENTS IN SPRING PROGRAM 2025

Denpasar, May 22, 2025 — The Soekarno Room in the Poerbatjaraka Building on the Udayana University Faculty of Cultural Sciences was filled with a sense of emotion and warmth. The Graduation and Farewell Ceremony was held for the Social Anthropology Spring 2025 students. This activity is the last in a series of Social Anthropology Spring activities.

The event started at 10:30 WITA and was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, I Nyoman Aryawibawa, S.S., M.A., Ph.D., the Coordinator of the Cultural Anthropology Study Program, Aliffiati, S.S., M.Si., representatives from Go Study, teaching lecturers, and 11 students from Norway and a number of local students who participated in the program.

Dean I Nyoman Aryawibawa said in his speech that the Faculty of Cultural Sciences is the first and oldest faculty in Bali, established on September 29, 1958. He also said that it's really important to work together internationally to share cultural insights and ideas. Unud has become a university with international cooperation programs, including the Social Anthropology program.

"This is the sixth time that Go Study and the Cultural Anthropology Study Program have teamed up. We hope that this kind of collaboration will continue so that the two cultures can share new knowledge," said Aryawibawa.

We wanted to show our appreciation for all the hard work and perseverance of the Norwegian students in the Social Anthropology program, so we threw this event. It's not just about a graduation, it's about being welcomed into the Faculty of Cultural Sciences family.

One of the most touching moments was when Oliver Elias, the best student in the Social Anthropology program, shared his impressions and messages.

"I'm thrilled to have met and learned from so many people, made new friends, and gotten to know Balinese culture and ethnography, both in class and outside of it," Elias said, grateful for the experience.

This Graduation and Farewell Ceremony is a big deal for the students, since it marks the end of their study period, but it's also a great opportunity to strengthen intercultural relationships and Udayana University's international academic network. This activity is a great way for Norwegian students to get a real feel for the culture, and they'll have some great stories to tell when they get back home. This'll give more Norwegian students the chance to take part in the Social Anthropology Summer 2025 activity, which starts in September. (nhw)
