Course Discussion: Visual Anthropology

Anthropology Students at the Anthropology Study Program, Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University held a Course Discussion with the theme "Revealing the Meaning of Images from Cultural Glasses".

The discussion of this course presented keynote speaker Dr. Purwadi Soeriadiredja, M. Hum. and two resource persons, namely Aliffiati, S.S., M.Si. as Lecturer of Anthropology at Udayana University and Jonas Sestakresna as practitioner of Visual Artist. The activity was carried out virtually via Zoom Meeting at 09.00 WIB, on 29 August 2020.

The discussion was warm, where the discussion participants played a very important role in enlivening the virtual space atmosphere by asking various questions to the three speakers. One of the topics of discussion that went on for quite a long time was related to the challenges faced by anthropologists/ethnographers when perpetuating a momentum of cultural practice into a photo or video documentation. This is a conversation in order to prepare young researchers when they go to the field and meet face-to-face with a diverse and dynamic group of people. (ows)
