DIVING INTO THE WORLD OF ANTHROPOLOGY: RESEARCH AND COMMUNITY SERVICE TRAINING (PPPM) 2024 BY THE CULTURAL ANTHROPOLOGY STUDY PROGRAM
Udayana Cultural Anthropology Study Program together with the Archaeology Study Program of Udayana University and the Anthropology Study Program of Halu Oleo University, Southeast Sulawesi held the opening of PPPM (Training, Research and Community Service) 2024 at Belantih Village Multipurpose Hall on February 18, 2024. At the opening of PPPM (Training, Research, and Community Service), Mrs. Aliffiati, S.S., M.Sc. as the coordinator of the Cultural Anthropology Study Program gave instructions to seriously participate in this activity. All the participants were introduced by the leaders of the local banjar where they would later live. There are 17 banjars that will be occupied by the participants, including Banjar Belantih, Banjar Selulung, Banjar Pangkung, Banjar Sabang Kelod, Banjar Sabang Kaja, Banjar Pandan, Banjar Luahan, Banjar Mabi, Banjar Tanjungan, Banjar Taked, Banjar Kayu Padi, Banjar Tiangan, Banjar Selulung Kauh, Banjar Nyawah, Banjar Selulung Kangin, Banjar Tangguan, Banjar Mesahan.
The series of events that took place during the PPPM (Training, Research and Community Service) apart from the participants looking for informants to get answers to the discussion topics were Teaching Manners. In this series of events there were several volunteers who provided information about the importance of waste and the importance of brushing teeth which was held at SDN 1 Belantih, SDN 2 Belantih, SDN 3 Belantih and SDN Selulung. The series of PPPM (Training, Research and Community Service) events was held for 6 days, during which all participants searched for data and informants related to the topics of discussion. In addition to data collection, the participants also carried out some of the customs of the Selulung village community, such as gardening. Some of the participants had difficulties in finding data because of the sensitivity of the discussion topic "taboo things in Selulung Village". One of the participants expressed his anxiety when searching for data, "because the topic I raised was more sensitive, of course the informant's answers sometimes felt like going around in circles. Besides, the dark history that surrounds the story behind the topic I am presenting is a challenge in itself to find this information". Not all participants had difficulty finding data. In between searching for data, the participants also did some gardening, as the Selulung Village area is famous for its orange and coffee plantations.
At the end of the series of PPPM (Training, Research and Community Service) activities, all participants were gathered at the Selulung Village hall to close this activity.
