Krama Teaching at Al Hikmah Orphanage

    The Cultural Anthropology Student Association of Udayana University has carried out activities on Saturday 3 November 2024. The activity is a routine student work programme with the title Krama Teaching Vol. 2 which is organised by the Community Service Division of Krama.  This activity took place at the AlHikmah Denpasar Orphanage, with the aim of providing learning and education for orphanage children. The theme raised in this activity is ‘Building Character to Create a Quality Learning Atmosphere’ This activity aims to introduce the concept of cleanliness and teach children to maintain personal hygiene.

    The main session began with personal hygiene material delivered by one of the student volunteers, where children were accompanied by volunteers to understand the importance of maintaining personal hygiene. Followed by hand washing practice. Then there was a bonding session conducted by giving fruit to the children, in order to create an atmosphere of intimacy between volunteers and orphanage children. The event continued with various games and quizzes, for children who dare to come forward will get prizes that have been prepared by the committee. The activity ended with the creation of works using handprints on canvas as a symbol of togetherness.

    In the opinion of one of the orphanage children, ‘The activity was very exciting and made me happy’. Then one of the volunteers also revealed that ‘I got a great experience when teaching because I got enthusiasm from the children, they are very active and smart’. The event was closed at 11.35 WITA with a group photo, closing remarks from the Chief Executive, and the handover of Certificates. With the completion of this series of activities, it is hoped that it can build the character of orphanage children while increasing awareness of the importance of maintaining cleanliness. (Linggar).
