News of Activity The People’s 3rd Edition Magazine "Lens of the Gods: Examining the Traces of the Bali Aga Civilization"
The People's is a magazine and one of
the work programs of the Scientific Division of Anthropology Students at
Udayana University (KRAMA). In practice, this magazine has entered its third
edition and regularly published every year since it first published in 2021.
The theme raised in this year's magazine is "Lens of the Gods: Examining
the Traces of Bali Aga Civilization", it is based on everything related to
Bali Aga culture on the plains of the Island of the Gods. More specifically, it
discusses more about the existence of cultural elements of the Bali Aga people
who were the original inhabitants of Bali Island before the arrival of
residents from the collapse of the Majapahit Kingdom. The People's Edition 3
began the preparation process starting from June 2023, starting with forming
the editorial team until this magazine release on August 31 2023, so it can be
concluded that the preparation took approximately two months.
During the preparation process, the
content presented in each magazine column was mostly sourced from fun research
activities (PENSIK) which is also one of the work programs of the KRAMA
Scientific Division. Due to the collaboration between the magazine's work
program and PENSIK, the place where this magazine preparation activity was
carried out was adjusted to the place where PENSIK was held, namely in Bayung
Gede Village, Sukawana Village, Selulung Village, and Mengani Village. Apart
from the results of PENSIK, several of the rubrics published are also the
result of writings obtained through open submissions from writers of the
rubrics for The People's Magazine Edition 3. Through that explanation, the
parties involved in making the publication of this year's magazine a success
are relatives of students from the Scientific Division and other Anthropology
students at Udayana University, column writers, as well as lecturers in
Cultural Anthropology at Udayana University, one of whom is Mr. Budarsa as
companion and person in charge.
The People's, as KRAMA's annual
magazine, has several objectives behind its preparation and publication. The
objectives in question include the following.
- For KRAMA, it can be used as a new
media in producing creative and educational content.
- For the author, it is as a medium
that specifically accommodates the works of students of the Anthropology study
program, and in general to accommodate the work of the author in the sense of
the wider community regarding all forms of culture of the Bali Aga community.
- For readers, it is to increase
knowledge, insight and inspiration from the rubrics featured in the magazine.
Within two months of the preparation

Release of The People's Magazine Edition III
Apart from involving the campus, the
release of this year's magazine cannot be separated from the role of parties
outside the campus who also participated in each page of the magazine. Mr.
Budi, principal of SMAN 1 Kintamani, believes that activities such as making
magazines are highly recommended considering that recently the younger
generation's interest in writing is very low. He also welcomed our arrival
during the PENSIK activities and facilitated us in terms of accommodation. One
of our resource persons, namely Mr. Jero Bau Karmawan as the supervisor of the
Selulung Traditional Village, was very enthusiastic in providing information
during the interview. By raising the theme around Bali Aga, he hopes that
through this magazine the traditions, culture and other local wisdom of the
Bali Aga community can be more widely known to the public. (nad)
