Norwegian Students Participate in Sharing Takjil in Denpasar, a Form of Tolerance in Diversity
(Denpasar/21.03.2025) - In order to introduce Indonesian social and cultural values, students from Norway who are members of the Social Anthropology Program at Udayana University participated in sharing takjil in front of Tiara Dewata, Denpasar. This activity took place at 16.00 WITA and was attended by 10 Norwegian students, anthropology students from Udayana University and anthropology lecturers.
The aim of this activity was to give foreign students direct experience of the tradition of sharing during Ramadan in Indonesia. The students enthusiastically distributed takjil to passersby, while witnessing how the values of mutual respect and sharing are still upheld by the Indonesian people despite their different cultural and religious backgrounds.
"This is an amazing experience. I can see firsthand how people in Indonesia share and respect differences. This is a valuable lesson for us," said one of the Norwegian students who participated in this activity. Positive feedback also came from the people who received the free takjil. They expressed their appreciation for the involvement of foreign students in this social activity. In addition to strengthening the relationship between local and international students, this activity is also a clear demonstration of how diversity in Indonesia remains harmonious.
With programs like this, it is hoped that international students can understand more about Indonesian culture, not only from the academic side, but also in the social aspects that are an important part of community life. (-nhw/)
