SUNARI PENJOR JOURNAL INDEXED BY LIBRARY OF CONGRESS IN UNITED STATE

Representatives of the Cultural Anthropology Study Programme, Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University had the opportunity to visit the United States Embassy office located at Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Central Jakarta. The visit was made on 9 November 2023 in order to submit a copy of the printed version of Sunari Penjor: Journal of Anthropology to become one of the Library of Congress (LOC) collections in Washington D.C., United States.

The meeting was motivated by an invitation letter dated 28 August 2023 from the US Embassy to the management of the Sunari Penjor Journal. The staff representative (librarian) of the US Embassy, Mr Tonny, S.IIP. expressed his gratitude for the good reception of the Sunari Penjor Journal and the approval of the Cultural Anthropology Study Programme for its trust in LOC. The presence of the journal into the LOC collection is expected to be a reference for the United States Senate to review (consider) various public policies that have global implications, including Indonesia, which is synonymous with cultural diversity.

The LOC is de facto a universal national library of the United States to collect various publications such as magazines, journals, proceedings, and books related to the treasures of Indonesia and Southeast Asia with the aim of opening up opportunities for study, research and cooperation in the future, especially in the preparation of government regulations.

Ida Bagus Oka Wedasantara, S.Sos., M.Si. as the Editor in Chief of Sunari Penjor who conducted the visit, said that the copies of the journal provided were 12 copies, starting from Volume 1 (2017) to Volume 13 (2023). He hopes that the indexing of Sunari Penjor in LOC can disseminate anthropology's civitas publications in the international arena and increase website visitor statistics to read/cite articles published in Sunari Penjor : Journal of Anthropology.

During the meeting, in addition to Sunari Penjor, a popular magazine, namely The People's Magazine managed by the Anthropology Student Association (Krama) Udayana University starting from Edition 1 (2021) to Edition 3 (2023) was also submitted as an LOC collection. (ows)
