Two Speakers from Italy Present Ethnolinguistic in Guest Lecture

The Faculty of Humanities at Udayana University held a Guest Lecture by presenting two great speakers from Italy, namely Antonia Soriente and Aurora Donzelli, who took place in Ir. Soekarno, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Udayana University, on Monday 09 January 2023, the event which was attended by students from across the Study Programs of Cultural Anthropology, Archeology, History, and Masters in Cultural Studies succeeded in providing useful insights with new faces and interesting points of view from both sources from the land of the pizza. Taking place offline for approximately 2 hours in the Ir. Soekarno room, it became a nice place to exchange opinions between students and resource persons.

It was opened with remarks by the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. Made Sri Satyawati, S.S., M.Hum. contains a lot of hopes in it, especially for students of the Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University, he said that events like this can continue to spark the interest of the younger generation to be able to develop and add insight, especially for new things which will certainly be useful for the future, because this is an important point that must always grow and develop within the academic community of Udayana University in particular, to be able to give birth to a generation of superior, independent and cultured nations in line with the vision and mission of the Sang Prabhu campus, Udayana University.

In the presentation of the first material by Antonia Soriente which focused on preserving language with the title of material presented namely "A Documentary Linguistics Approach To Interdisciplinary Research" successfully gave a new perspective on the linguistic approach, Antonia Soriente was indeed a pioneer of teaching Indonesian language and literature at her alma mater, namely the University of Orientale, Napoli-Italy so that Antonia Soriente who has the title of Professor is often dubbed as a fighter for Indonesian in the Land of Italian Pizza, in his presentation Antonia Sori You told me a lot about his experience in documenting traditional shipbuilding in one of Indonesia's regions which has been taken as an example in documentary linguistics. He believes that this documentary linguistics approach can also be a medium for preserving the language of every region, especially the regions in Indonesia itself amidst the onslaught of modernization and the erosion of local native languages.

Furthermore, the event was closed with a second material presentation by Aurora Donzelli as well as a discussion session from students to speakers, Aurora Donzelli who is a linguist and anthropologist who is engaged in language research and in line with her colleague Antonia Soriente who has an interest in Indonesian itself, managed to give a new face and enthusiasm for students to be more concerned with preserving languages, especially Indonesian.
